About the film

Léopoldville, 1959. The Rumba Royale is the city’s great nightclub, alive to the beat of Congolese rumba while colonial rule runs out around it. Daniel, a young photographer, and Olive, a waitress with ambitions of her own, each chase a dream there, until love, power and politics begin to close in on the world they share.

Rumba Royale is a French-language drama shot in Kinshasa, directed by Yohane Dean Lengol and Hamed Mobasser and starring Fally Ipupa and Melanie Bokata. MZ3 Pictures handled its post-production: the colour grade, the sound design and the original music.
